It started the way most great things do — with a problem. We were 14, we wanted money, and we started looking for ways to get it. We came across detailing and something clicked. The idea that you could get paid to do something you might actually love felt almost too good to be true.
Turns out, it wasn't. Detailing came naturally to both of us. But running a business as a teenager with no roadmap? That was a different story. We had no idea what we were doing — and that turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to us.
Figuring it out forced us to learn things most people our age never think about. Pricing. Customers. Quality control. How to show up and do the job right even when nobody's watching. The business became just as much of a passion as the detailing itself.
We come from different families, different schools — but the reason we became best friends long before Checkmate existed is a shared ambition and a burning need to create something. Detailing became our outlet. It was all we focused on.
Three years later, we're getting the business part down and finally getting to show the world what we can do. We never expected people to trust two kids with their most prized possessions. So we make sure we earn it every single time.
